Ronald W. Dunbar, Jr. is the founder of the firm. Mr. Dunbar is a trial lawyer with over twenty five years of experience in complex civil litigation.
Mr. Dunbar focuses on commercial litigation, construction litigation and defense of corporations and individuals in state and federal regulatory investigations. He also focuses on insurance defense litigation, including complex products liability cases.
Mr. Dunbar represents multinational corporations, Fortune 500 companies, technology start-ups and individuals in sophisticated commercial disputes and regulatory investigations instituted by state and federal agencies with an emphasis on securities and health care regulation. Mr. Dunbar has tried cases in state and federal court in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and in federal administrative proceedings before the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Dunbar's success on behalf of his clients has been featured twice on the front page of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly and he is a frequent contributor to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
Mr. Dunbar is on the board of trustees of the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) located in Newport, Rhode Island and is on the Council of Fellows at the Pennsylvania State University, Behrend College serving as an advisor to the college chancellor.
Representative Matters:
Successfully represented mortgagee including serving as co-counsel before the United States Supreme Court in case involving appellate jurisdiction in bankruptcy proceedings, resulting in unanimous decision in client’s favor on May 4, 2015. Bullard v. Blue Hills Bank f/k/a Hyde Park Savings Bank, 135 S. Ct. 1686 (2015).
Successfully represented a closely held Massachusetts corporation and its majority shareholder before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court resulting in a unanimous decision in clients’ favor on March 14, 2014 overturning a seven figure jury verdict. Selmark Associates Inc. v. Evan Ehrlich, 467 Mass. 525 (2014).
Represented commercial mortgage-backed securities trust in connection with prosecution of claim against Bank of America seeking repurchase of hundreds of millions of dollars worth of loans.
Achieved a defense verdict after a jury trial in a products liability case on behalf of Home Depot Inc. and a Pennsylvania manufacturer of orbital sanders.
Achieved a defense verdict after a jury trial in a products liability case on behalf of Stanley Tools (a division of Stanley Black & Decker).
Achieved a defense verdict after a jury trial in a fraud case on behalf of the former Chief Executive Officer of a large software corporation brought by the corporation’s lender seeking millions of dollars in damages.
